Battie Page, the Red Eyed Bat Purse | Wicker Darling

This product is no longer available

We are beyond delighted to introduce you all to Battie Page, the red eye bat! A Halloween flavoured wicker bat clutch suitable for spooky season or all year round, if that's your persuasion!

Battie the wicker Bat Bag is our latest bespoke design, designed by Jasmine in Melbourne, and handmade using traditional weaving techniques by our artisans in the Philippines - Battie's primary materials are sustainably farmed and harvested rattan, leather, and linen for the lining.

Our handbags are designed in Australia and lovingly hand crafted by our weavers in the Philippines from natural materials. As such, each and every beautiful bat shaped wicker purse will have minor differences, whether it's in the weave of the wicker, leather work, or other finishings. These are a unique signature of expert craftsmanship.

Need protection for your friend in case of unexpected rain? Just want a cute tote that's designed to fit perfectly in your wicker friend? Why not order our three-pack of Wicker Darling reusable totes! Our reusable shopping totes are in stock and will ship out - free of charge!

    Product Details

Bettie Page the bat shaped purse is 17.5 inches wing tip to wing tip and 11 inches top to bottom. The body space available for storing contents is approximately 7 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall and 5 inches deep.

Bettie Page the bat purse has a leather shoulder strap that is 48 inches long. This shoulder strap can be completely removed and replaced with a strap of your choice.

Bettie Page the bat purse features an interior lining of loose linen to take advantage of the internal shape of the bag - large enough to fit your wallet, a clutch of keys, a very large phone, those three red lipsticks you've always got in your handbag, and that random packet of doodads you know will come in handy one day!

This bat wing purse is more clutch sized than standard handbag sized: he'll fit a standard smart phone, credit cards, keys, and lippie. She's a bit of a diva and is unlikely to accept your chunky purse/wallet!

Bettie Page the bat purse will arrive with a collector card and dust bag to keep him snug during his hours of slumber.

    Handmade to Order

Our handbags are designed in Australia and lovingly crafted by hand by our weavers in the Philippines. As such, each and every bag will have minor differences, whether it's in the wicker, leather work, or placement of other finishings. These are not faults, but rather a signature of hand craftsmanship from natural materials, and we consider these minor differences to be what makes every bag a unique piece of art. While every effort is made to photograph the true colour of our designs, monitors may display colours differently.

Due to our bags being made-to-order, upon occasion our ateliers may need to substitute materials used in the sample designs with different materials due to supply shortages. Where this occurs, the ateliers will do their best to find the closest possible substitute, and ensure the overall design remains consistent with the sample.

    Our Ethics

Wicker Darling bags are woven from sustainably, ethically harvested rattan. Our ateliers source rattan from local co-ops and farms to support their communities and to minimise the distance the materials travel. Rattan is sustainably grown, harvested by hand, and by-products are composted.

Bags are handmade by traditional artisans, providing employment with a focus on marginalised communities and nurturing traditional skills and handicrafts, and fostering micro-businesses and individual artisans.

The overall aim is to reduce our environmental footprint as much as possible, and to provide meaningful, fairly paid employment opportunities to our Filipino artisans.
